Setting up Windows 2000 Dial-Up Networking

Click the "Start" button, then select "Settings", followed by "Control Panel".



Double-click the "Network and Dial-Up Connections" icon.



Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon.



Click the "Next" button.



Select the "Dial-up to the Internet" item, then click the "Next" button.



In this window, select the "I want to set up my Internet connection manually..." item, then click the "Next" button.



Select the "I connect through a phone line and a modem" choice, then click the "Next" button.



Enter the Area Code and Telephone Number as indicated here.

Click the "Advanced" button.


Select the "Connection" tab.

In the "Connection type" section, select "PPP" and place a checkmark in the "Disable LCP Extensions" checkbox.

Select "None" in the "Logon procedure" section.

Click the "Addresses" tab.


Both the "IP address" and "DNS server address" selections should be set as depicted at right.

Click the "OK" button.


Click the "Next" button.


Enter your Username and Password in the spaces provided, then click the "Next" button.


In the "Connection name" field, type Montana.Net

Click the "Next" button.


If you wish to set up your Email account now, select "Yes", then click the "Next" button.


Enter your Display Name, then click the "Next" button.


Enter your Montana.Net email address on the line provided.

Your email address is your Username followed by @montana.net

Click the "Next" button to continue.


Enter the names of the email servers, as shown.

Incoming:
mail.montana.net

Outgoing:
mailout.montana.net

Click the "Next" button to continue.


Enter your Username and Password in the spaces provided.

Checking the "Remember password" box is a matter of personal preference.

Click the "Next" button to continue.


You may connect to Montana.Net immediately upon finishing by selecting the checkbox.

Click the "Finish" button to complete the setup.
