Do you like having access to National Weather Service weather
information over the Internet? Do you want to continue receiving
NWS weather information?
If so, you may be interested in knowing that Senator Rick
Santorum (R-PA) has introduced Senate bill S.786, "The
National Weather Services Duties Act of 2005", which
would prohibit the NWS from offering any weather information
that would compete with private companies which sell such
information to paid subscribers.
Senate bill S.786 has been referred to the Committee on Commerce,
Science, and Transportation, of which Senator
Conrad Burns (R-MT) is a member. If you want continued
Internet access to products of the National Weather Service,
you may want to make your feelings known!
